Man one of four people sought for questioning in Wednesday incident
Patrol officers with the Laurel Police Department converged at Victoria Avenue Apartments late Thursday morning and arrested a man they believed may have been involved in a Wednesday afternoon robbery.
LPD Detective Sgt. Byron Craft said Thursday afternoon the name of the suspect would be withheld pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
“This subject is one of four people we think may have been involved in the assault and robbery of a victim at the Blue’s Super Store on Susie B. Ruffin Avenue at about 5 p.m.,” said Craft. “One or more of these suspects also may have been involved in a shoplifting incident at BP Convenience Store on Chantilly Street a little while earlier. We are checking on that.”
After receiving an anonymous tip, patrol officers raced to an unidentified apartment on Victoria Avenue at about 11 a.m. Thursday. The officers were able to quickly locate and arrest the subject without further incident.
The victim of the robbery was taken by private vehicle to South Central Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
